Fresh news from Bonn regarding the visit of His Holiness Karmapa in two weeks time.

One more talk on the environment "Compassion in Action - Environmentalism for the 21st Century " has been added to the Karmapa's weekend of teachings in Bonn, and there are now separate tickets available for each day, making attendance more accessible.
As before, all tickets are available online only.

Excellent news - some tickets for Karmapa visit now at reduced price

From the organisers of His Holiness the 17th Karmapa's visit to Bonn, Germany, at the end of this month : 

Thanks to generous donors, some ticket prices have been reduced for the four day Bonn teachings 27 - 30th August 2015.  The Blue category tickets are now available for 250 euro, a reduction of 100 euro. 

The teachings will take place at the Maritim Hotel, Bonn and will include talks and Empowerments for Chenrezig and Akshobhya, as well as a day of teachings on Compassion. Please see the ticket page on the official Karmapa visit website for all information and updates. 

News just in - Karmapa returning to Germany in three weeks time.

It has just been announced that His Holiness 17th Karmapa Orgyen Trinley Dorje, has accepted an invitation from Germany to visit at the end of this month.
There will be a weekend of public talks and empowerments in Bonn 27 - 30th August 2015. The visit is being organised by the Kamalashila Centre for Buddhist Studies & Meditation and the Karma Kagyü Gemeinschaft Deutschland e. V. 
It is open to all friends, students and interested guests.

Change of weekend venue & an extra teaching with Ringu Tulku Rinpoche

In response to public demand we are very happy to present an extra teaching event (and change of venue)  to Rinpoche's programme in Dublin - for the weekend 1st - 2nd August.  The venue for the weekend teachings will now be The Hilton Hotel, Kilmainham, Dublin 8. Rinpoche will be continuing on the theme of preparing for  death through living a joyful life.  Growing older brings with it the reality of our own mortality: in the Buddhist tradition this reality is not kept hidden or denied, but embraced, and because of this encourages us to live our lives bravely and fully conscious of our actions, so that we may also face death with the same fearlessness. The possibility of death not being the end,  that our living actions may influence the nature of our death and what happens afterwards is a profound idea, providing us with a clue as to the nature of contentment - both in living fully and meeting death - our own, and that of others.

Rinpoche will also be giving a public talk at Our Lady's Hospice at Harold's Cross, on Tuesday 28th  at 7.30pm and teach on the Tibetan Book of the Dead at Kagyu Samye Dzong on Inchicore Road, Dublin 8 on the Monday, Wednesday Thursday and Friday evenings, please see previous post for details. He will also be answering questions during the talks, so please come prepared!

Maeve O'Sullivan's wonderful new anthology of haiku poetry A Train Hurtles West will be on sale at the Hilton and Hospice events, and proceeds will be kindly donated by Maeve to the Rigul Trust Fund who are currently focussing on a nunnery in  Nepal that was devastated by the recent earthquake. 

Visit of Ringu Tulku Rinpoche 27th July - 1st August 2015 - extra teachings 2nd August

This year Rinpoche has agreed to teach on approaching death according to the Buddhist Tradition: At Kagyu Samye Dzong Dublin, he will give four evening teachings on The Bardo Thodöl, or Tibetan Book of the Dead. This classic text outlines the journey of consciousness after physical death, as taught in the Tibetan Tradition.

The PUBLIC TALK on Tuesday 28th July - 7.30 pm will address the topic, Living and Dying: a Buddhist perspective.   Hosted by Bodhicharya Ireland and Our Lady's Hospice, at the Education and Research Centre, OUR LADY'S HOSPICE, Harold's Cross Road, Dublin 6W.

There will be an opportunity to donate to  Rigul Trust which is currently working to raise funds for a nunnery that was completely devastated in the earthquake in a remote region of Nepal. The nuns who survived are being temporarily sheltered in a warehouse in Kathmandu and are in need of food, medical care and a permanent home.
Rigul Trust is Rinpoche's Charity that helps to support his monastery in Eastern Tibet where young people are fed, educated, and given medical care by a small team of doctors, nurses and teachers who depend on the generosity of donors for all their income.

Essential Summercamp Information

This year summercamp in Portugal will be dedicated to ngondro practice.  The whole group will accumulate the recitations and prostrations altogether, combining the totals:

"This Summer we will be performing them all together with Rinpoche and getting, as individual benefit, the sum of the numbers accumulated by all".
