In a press release today the Government of Sikkim have announced that His Holiness the Gyalwang Karmapa has will visit Phodong Monastery in Northern Sikkim next year. The decision came after talks between Shri Rahoul Ghandi, and senior members of the Sikkim Pradesh Congress Committee. Phodong belongs to the Kagyupa School of Buddhism, and is thought to be the one of the oldest monasteries in Sikkim.
