Rinpoche visit to Dublin in May cancelled

We are sorry to let you know that  Ringu Tulku regrets that due to pressures elsewhere he has to cancel his  visit to Dublin - originally planned for 5th - 9th May 2014.
Rinpoche will however visit Dzogchen Beara in West Cork on the weekend 9th - 11th May, where he will be talking (topically) about 'Living with Uncertainty and Change'.

If you are not able to attend the teachings of His Holiness 17th Karmapa in Germany, there will be an opportunity to see Rinpoche at the Bodhicharya Summercamp close to  Porto,  from 14th - 21st July this year. A lovely venue and very relaxed atmosphere, and of course he will be leading the French Kagyu Monlam in Paris over Easter weekend. Rinpoche will also teach on the 4 Seals of Mahamudra over  the first weekend in May at Kagyu Samye Dzong,  London.
If you would like to go further afield to see him, there's plans afoot for the US later in the year.  We will keep you posted!

Ringu Tulku Rinpoche. Dublin 2014

Bodhicharya Ireland are really please to let you know that Rinpoche's programme for Dublin KSD continues with teachings on the 'Heart Treasure of the Enlightened Ones', a commentary by the great Dilgo Khyentse Rinpoche on a 19th century teaching by Patrul Rinpoche, who was himself a wondering yogi who spent much of his life living in caves and trying not to be recognised. He wrote many important texts during his life, this is one of those. As the name implies, 'The Heart Treasure' is a set of teachings that, although written 150 years ago,  can be applied in very practical ways to help guide us through these difficult times of the 21st century.  Ringu Tulku has taught from a number of important but unpublished texts by Patrul Rinpoche, and the Bodhicharya Publications team are working to help make these accessible to a greater audience.

The Lantern Hospitality Centre
One of the aims of Bodhicharya Ireland has been to help facilitate meetings and exchange with communities of other faiths, and we are delighted to announce that Rinpoche will be hosted by The Lantern Centre, 15 Synge St., Dublin 8 (formerly Synge St. School) for an evening of talk and discussion on 'Forming Communities of Compassion'.  The Lantern Centre is a community forum in the heart of Dublin that hosts extensive arts and multicultural cultural events as well as interfaith groups in ongoing dialogue.  Everyone is welcome to listen and/or participate.  Minimum cover charge €5, and donations can also be offered to Rinpoche's personal charity The Rigul Trust, which supports children's welfare and education in Rigul, his monastery and birthplace in Tibet.

RINGU TULKU RINPOCHE - DUBLIN & DZOGCHEN BEARA - MAY 2014

We're delighted to confirm that Ringu Tulku Rinpoche will be visiting Ireland very soon, he'll teach at  Dublin Kagyu Samye Dzong during the week 5th - 8th May, and Dzogchen Beara, West Cork on the weekend  9th - 11th May. As we already mentioned on this blog, this year Rinpoche in his role as Chairperson for Karmapa Foundation Europe and for Bodhicharya Germany, is organising to bring His Holiness 17th Karmapa to Kamalashila and Berlin for two weeks at the end May and early June.  This requires changes in Rinpoche's usual schedules, and sadly his time with us Ireland will be restricted. It will not be possible for the weekend teachings normally hosted by Bodhicharya at Kilmainham Hilton to go ahead.  When the Irish programme is confirmed we'll post the details here.

PROGRAMME FOR HHK VISIT

Update for the Visit of His Holiness Karmapa to Europe 28th May - 8th June 2014

The 17th Karmapa, Ogyen Trinley Dorje, will make his first visit to Europe this year.  He was recognised as a small boy by His Holiness the Dalai Lama to be the spiritual head of the 900 year old Kagyu Lineage. The name Karmapa means 'Upholder of Buddha Activity', or 'The One Who Takes Action', and to this end he transmits teachings and Dharma, guides students and disciples and is proactive in the modernisation of Buddhist Institutions; this includes giving full recognition to the important role of women in 21st century in religious and secular environments.  He has a personal connection with Europe, where his message of environmental protection and social responsibility has been warmly embraced.  He is keen to provide strong leadership in areas of youth engagement, and, as a committed vegetarian, by encouraging the importance of not killing animals for food in order to propagate the survival of a healthy world system.
His Holiness the Karmapa was formally recognised at Tsurphu Monastery, the seat of the Karmapas in Tibet, where he trained from the age of eight in Buddhist philosophy and values. His teachings are consistently rooted in the Buddhist understandings of interdependence. He left Tibet in the year 2000 at the age of fourteen in order to study in India with his exiled teachers, including His Holiness the Dalai Lama.
His Holiness the Karmapa is also an accomplished artist, writer and poet with a love of music. In 2010, he wrote and produced an acclaimed contemporary theatrical production on the life story of Milarepa, the famed yogi of 11th century Tibet.

The coming spring heralds two exciting events for Europe:

Ringu Tulku will lead the 2nd French Kagyu Monlam that takes place in Paris across Easter weekend, on the 19th 20th and 21st April. Over the weekend he will be teaching on, 'The Eight Verses of Training the Mind' a text by Geshe Langri Tangpa.  All details in French with some translation can be found on the website.

News has also just broken of the first visit of His Holiness Karmapa to Europe, 28 May - 8th June 2014. This visit will be confined to Germany only, and updates will be posted on the Karmapa Foundation Europe website and the KFE Facebook page.

SUMMERCAMP 2014 WITH RINGU TULKU RINPOCHE

Location: Casa da Torre – Centro de Retiros | Soutelo – Vila Verde – Braga | PORTUGAL

After the previous years’ success, in 2014, the Bodhicharya Summer Camp will again be held in Portugal.

The chosen place is a Christian retreat house, in the North of Portugal. The facilities are excellent, with single and double rooms with twin beds. Vegetables and fruit are grown by the community itself and taste absolutely delicious.

There is a river, at a short walking distance away, where one can swim or just refresh oneself. There is a fluvial beach and a small terrace, perfect to sit, relax and enjoy a drink.

The summercamp will be accessible to everyone, even to those who do not have a deep knowledge of the Buddhist path and did not attend last years’ sessions. Every day there will be two teaching sessions with Rinpoche (one in the morning, one at the end of the afternoon).

If needed, there will be introductory classes for beginners who have not attended last years teachings, and group meditation.

Participants may also relax and enjoy the activities available around the center. Families are most welcome, however we will not be in a position to provide childcare.

The retreat center will offer 3 vegetarian meals a day with accommodation starting with dinner on July 14th and including lunch on July 20th.

We will not be able to offer child care but you are welcome to bring your children anyway. Rates for children are:

The rates for the summercamp are fixed: the full week’s rates must be paid even for partial attendance.

We have tried to keep the price of the summercamp as low as possible – if you can’t participate because of the price, please contact us, there are a few places available at a reduced rate.
